Medical Device Manufacturer Joins Entrada Group as Newest Client in Mexico

Michigan-based contract manufacturer Domico Med-Device expands global footprint with new facility in Celaya to meet growing demand and secure long-term growth

June 10, 2025 (Austin, TX) – A reliable source of labor, a location that could support future long-term growth and cost-competitive production. These were the top three needs of Domico Med-Device, a US-based contract medical device designer and manufacturer, which recently became the newest client of Entrada Group, a US-based shelter service provider that guides global manufacturers in establishing and running their own Mexico production, to enhance competitiveness.

Domico recently launched production with 30 employees and 23,000 sq. ft. at Entrada’s manufacturing campus in Celaya, Guanajuato, concluding a two-year search for the right location, business model and partner in Mexico.

Why Mexico’s Bajio Region Was the Clear Winner

Faced with competitive pressures and the need to ensure long-term labor availability, Domico explored various manufacturing locations across Mexico. After multiple site visits, Celaya stood out due to its rich supplier network, skilled workforce and strategic central location in the Bajio, a key manufacturing growth area, including for medical device production. Equally important, Domico eventually ruled out competing setup and support approaches for Mexico production, opting for Entrada’s shelter support model, which offers the right blend of speed, risk mitigation and compliance infrastructure compared to other approaches including a joint venture or greenfield option.

A Facility Built for the Future

Domico’s new facility expands its global production capacity and enhances its ability to be close to customers without taking on excessive risk. “We are proud to open this facility as it will increase our capacity and capability to meet the needs of customers, caregivers and patients throughout the world,” said Michael Czop, President and CEO of Domico. “After assessing our options, we concluded that Guanajuato in partnership with Entrada offers the best mix of suppliers and prospective employees to meet our needs.”

The Entrada Advantage

Through Entrada’s platform, Domico benefits from comprehensive operational support, including startup, compliance, HR, logistics and Customs, allowing the company to focus on core production and quality. “At our Celaya manufacturing campus, Domico now has a foothold close to Mexico’s biggest markets: Mexico City and Guadalajara,” said JohnPaul McDaris, Director, Business Development for Entrada Group. “This fast-growing central region of Mexico gives Domico not just the workforce but also the skillsets it needs as a platform for growth.” Domico will also be able to join the new GTO Life Innovation & Technologies Cluster, the first medical device-specific manufacturing and innovation cluster in the state.
